Museum of Slavonia, Osijek

Museum of Slavonia, Osijek website

The Egyptian Collection of the Museum of Slavonia, similar to other collections of the Museum, was established through donations from the citizens of Osijek. The collection consists of sixteen objects, among which only two were actually discovered in the Osijek area - shabti figurine (Lower Town, Mursa area) and Pedi-Hor-pa-Khered votive stele (Upper Town). According to the Inventory books most of the artifacts have Egypt as their place of discovery. It is important to say that none of the artifacts were collected through systematic archaeological research and their timeframe can only be determined by interpreting the data on the artifacts themselves. In July 2012, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia declared the Egyptian Collection of the Museum of Slavonia a cultural heritage, and it was included as such on the List of Protected Cultural Heritage under the number 3808.
